Our mission is to have an Olympic sized ice skating arena operating in the Wellington region by December 2025. We want to provide the greater Wellington community with a fit-for-purpose facility that caters to our growing ice sports clubs at local, regional, national and international levels, and the opportunity for anyone interested to learn and take up fun, exciting and rewarding ice sports like ice hockey, figure skating, speed skating and curling.

It is our vision to build an arena that is a positive community asset and has all the necessary facilities to host local, national and internationally sanctioned ice sports events including ice hockey, figure skating and ice curling, as well as provide a modern facility for fun recreational skating activities. We believe an asset like this will have a massive, positive economic and social impact on our community.

WRIST is actively locating a suitable site that is central to the region with several possible sites in the Hutt Valley. Active negotiations are ongoing with local council. The Trust is conducting a feasibility study and creating a business plan and a funding plan that will include a public offering to finance the build of the facility.
